The Software Engineering Analytics (SEA) Group is a spin-off from Software Engineering & Information Systems Group, with which it is still collaborating and sharing a joint project.

Mission statement:

To provide methods for collecting and analyzing software engineering data with the goal to estimate, predict, and improve the quality of software and software-intensive systems.

What we do:

  • Methods and tools for static document and code analysis
  • Methods and tools for dynamic code analysis (incl. testing)
  • Methods and tools for quality estimation and prediction
  • Methods and tools for selecting, augmenting, and generating test data, test cases, test oracles, and test code

The Team:

  • Dietmar Pfahl, PhD, Professor, Head of Group
  • Hina Anwar, PhD, Assistant Professor (Lecturer, 0.25)

  • Software Engineering
  • Software Testing

Moreover, we are in charge of the curriculum of the International MSc of Software Engineering program.

The group currently supervises three PhD projects. Two additional PhD projects will start in the academic year 2024/25.

In the past, members of the group supervised or co-supervised seven completed PhD, 50+ completed MSc, and 40+ completed BSc theses (mostly at the University of Tartu but also at the University of Calgary, Canada, the University of Oslo, Norway, and Lund University, Sweden, as well as two leading universities in Pakistan).
